This story takes place in the Yukon outside of Alaska during the year of 1869. Bobby was inside the cabin freezing. His Pops still hadn't come
back from hunting that big old brown bear that had attacked their herd of horses. Bobby and his father were hunters, they
went around the woods killing what they could and living off it. But they also sometimes needed horses to hunt some big
and fast prey. Bobby's Pops had left him with some food, a 20 .gauge shotgun (Bobby had learned how to shoot a gun
when he was 6 years old), in case any other animals come and try to
attack. But Bobby didn't care, he was too cold to care. Then he heard a noise like a popping a can of beer and knew that
his Dad had fired another shot at big o'l Bessie( that's what Bobby called her). Then to his horror he heard another noise,
a scream and then a groan, and he knew that Pops was in trouble. Bobby went down to the forest armed with his shotgun,
he had been searching for several minutes, when he saw the blood. It looked a little darker than Pops but Bobby wasn't
really good with blood like his Pop was. If Pops saw a speck of blood he could tell what kind it was and what kind of animal
it was from. He continued to follow the blood trail and then he saw his Pops and much to his surprise the bear lying on
the ground both bleeding heavily. Bobby walked over to the bear and put a shotgun shell in its rib cage. Then Bobby ran
up to his Pops and said" Pops are you okay?" But it was too late for his Pops. Bobby cried until the sun went down.
